MY NAME'S NAVIN
I am currently a sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the UNC Hussmann School of Journalism and Media, pursuing a degree in Journalism and Videography with a double major in Peace, War and Defense.
Since early on in high school, I always believed storytelling and creating art are crucial to humanity. Without storytelling, there would be no bridge between ideas, thoughts, etc., and action. People's stories from all over the world, including those of my family, are often overlooked and brushed aside when they are capable of creating real change, providing a temporary escape from reality, or inspiring others to tell their stories. With my stories, I want to give people those feelings through my history, identity, culture, and beliefs.
I would call myself an aspiring storyteller, whether that is through photography, videography, writing, or primarily filmmaking. I am very passionate about film, hoping to write, direct, and later produce feature films in the entertainment industry. In addition, I'm also passionate about sports journalism and marketing; I believe that sports and athletes have potential stories that can inspire generations, so to have someone willing to document those stories is crucial.
I believe storytelling, especially film, is a mesmerizing medium for people to connect not only to those around them but also to themselves, allowing them to learn and grow.
